A Sandy Beach Almanac

You've landed at Sandy Beach, NSW, Australia: Lat. -30.15331, Long. 153.19960, UT +10:00 – local map & zoom Google map. I live in a cabin on this beach, 25 kilometres north of the traffic and shops of Coffs Harbour, 600 km north of Sydney. My intention is to post observations of Nature and life within 1 km (1,000 paces) of my South Pacific home.

Another midwinter sunrise shot

Midwinter sunrise
Midwinter sunrise,
originally uploaded by wilsonsalmanac.
The sun is far north as it's midwinter, but rising further to the south a little each morning. A good time to be thinking about making a spotdial on the ceiling.

Read your addition about the sun being far north of you now and it is the same here in Indiana too. It is even farther north when we go to Ontario Canada to fish. When out on the lake putting in a hard afternoon of fishing, we can count on it being daylight until 10pm every night. We all come in off the lake tired and hungry and all pitch in to make our suppers. Right now in Indiana it doesn't get dark until 9:30pm and children who go to bed at 8pm go to bed in the daylight. I am able to enjoy a late evening walk in the lingering twilight, the moonrise and the streetlamps coming to life in my neighborhood. But, unlike you with the sun so far north of you, we do get the heat blast of summer right now with near 90 degree weather and heavy humidity. Enjoy reading your blog.

I love those long, hot days of Summer, and going for walks after 8pm when it's still warm. But we've got a few months until those joys reappear. Enjoy your lazy, hazy, crazy days Annie.
